Each month the teachers in Kindergarten, First, Second, and Third grades attempt to plan a trip that is involved in the curriculum taught within that one month period.

In October, we went Pumpkin Picking. We went on a hayride which ended with a cornfield maze. Once there, the students, chaperones, and teachers could pick their very own pumpkin! Then, we returned by hayride to the feeding zoo. At the feeding zoo each child had the opportunity to feed the animals.

In November, we went to the Kimmel Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to see the musical, “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp.” Prior to the trip, we read the story “Aladdin” and also watched the Disney version of the movie “Aladdin.” After the play, the students were able to meet and greet the characters that were in the musical.

In December, we took a day trip to the Franklin Institute. After venturing through the Sports Room, the Giant Heart Exhibit, and Newton’s Laboratory, we settled down to enjoy our packed lunches. Following lunch, we saw the NASA Room, Aviation Room, Franklin’s Electricity Room, and the Locomotive Room where we actually got to ride a real train! We also got the opportunity to see a four dimensional movie about the Deep Sea before heading back to school. The students loved the hands-on aspect of the Franklin Institute.

We are looking forward to future trips to the Academy of Natural Sciences, the New Jersey Aquarium in Camden, Battleship NJ, and the year ending trip to the Philadelphia Zoo.
