Pioneer Academy of Science has a dress code policy to help create a safe and orderly environment, instill discipline, and eliminate the competition and distraction caused by varied styles of dress. Students are required to arrive in complete uniform everyday. Uniforms must be complete, clean, and orderly. It is your responsibility to maintain this dress code. We expect the parents and the students to maintain this dress code and we appreciate their effort.

Girls

Uniform Skirt or Slacks

• Steel Grey Slacks (K-5) or Khaki Slacks (6-8) available only from Flynn & O`Hara
• Belt to be worn with slacks: A properly fitting, brown or black belt

Personal Appearance

• Boys may not wear earrings.
• Jewelry and accessories for girls should be appropriate for school and not attract undue attention (Facial jewelry is limited to a pair of earrings and excessive rings are not permitted.)
• Cosmetics are not allowed. No make up.
• Artificial fingernails are not allowed.
• Facial and body piercing are not acceptable.
• Boys may not grow mustache and beard.
• Ear, neck, and forehead should be visible for boys.
• Hair past the shoulder should be tied back for girls.
• Tattoos are not acceptable.
• Use of hair dyes and bleach are not permitted.
• Extreme hairstyles are not permitted.
• Gang affiliated jewelry; paraphernalia and markings are not allowed.
• Dress code for gym; any t-shirt not collared, shorts or sweat pants, and  gym shoes, (students are not supposed to leave their gym clothes in their lockers after class for sanitary reasons)

Outwear

• Hats, caps, and other headgear may not be worn in the building.
• Outwear, such, as windbreakers, jean jackets, or ski jackets, may not be worn. Coats should be kept in lockers or in designated areas.

Skirts and Shirts

• May not be rolled at the waist. Must be of modest length and tucked in at all times. If students choose to wear shirts – it should be tucked in. t-shirts may not be tucked in.

Pants and Slacks

• Must fit properly. May not be baggy or saggy. Belts must fit properly and not hang down when buckle.
